THE ADVANCED EXCURSION:

Come and join us for a full 5 days in Barra, Mozambique for an all-out photographic excursion not to be missed!

During this excursion, we would assume that you understand the basics of photography and know what your camera's capabilities are and know how to use them. Depending on demand, we can spend the first day covering these basics again. The remaining 4 days would be used to gain practical experience - we would be spending a lot of time in Barra itself, covering so many interesting subjects from the most amazing sunsets you would ever see, to ancient Dhows, primitive fishing boats, how people spend a whole day hauling in fishing nets with their hands, the ancient Light House, sand tectures and plants, to the intricate eco system in the swamps.

From there, the historical town of Inhambane with the most amazing architecture, ruins, old buildings, to the landmark Methodist Church and the oldest harbour on the African coast, the old clay brick factory outside Inhambane (a landmark for all photographers). We would take a trip from Inhambane harbour in an ancient Dhow across the lake to Maxixe, and marvel in the skills of these boatsmen who work extremely hard, with bodies consisting of raw muscle only.

And late afternoon and in the evenings we would discuss the day's challenges, have a look at your pictures and deliver commentary.

What must be in your kit on this trip?:

    Your camera

    Enough memory cards

    Enough fully charged batteries and chargers

    Additional lenses (in case of DSLR's)

    Your laptop with Adobe Photoshop loaded (if you have one) - not a requirement - we have our laptop with PS.

    Tripod / monopod

    External flash (if you have one)

What are provided / included by us?:

    All course notes

    Transport to & from Barra from Nelspruit

    All travellings costs in Mozambique

    Full accommodation at Barra Estates (single or sharing, depending on your preferences)

    Early morning coffee / tea and rusks

    Full breakfast at Anda Ca Lodge or Bali Hi

    Dinner at Anda Ca Lodge or Bali Hi

    We would provide a lunch box for the trip to Barra and back, but all snacks and drinks en-route would be for your own account

    Entry fees at the border (R20 per person)

    Any other activities, like diving and snorkelling

   Please bring any additional items you deem necessary as per the heading "WHAT TO BRING ALONG"

   For any person not wanting to go on our daily trips, we have two cameras with underwter housings available for those who wish to go diving or snorkelling. These are available at a rental of R100 per camera per dive.
