Here at Digital World we are unindated with enquiries from all walks of life to present our customers with more in-depth knowledge and training in the photography field. Digital cameras have made it so much easier for all photographers and we now live in an era where photography is part of our lives, and more photos are taken now than ever before.

Anyone can take a photo these days and one can pop a digital camera into a 4 year old's hands since it has become so easy! Simply set the camera on full automatic and shoot. So, anyone can do it, but what makes the difference between a good photo and an average photo? It is crucial to know the basics of photography and to realise that there are much more to a camera than shooting in automatic mode!

Why do cameras have manual settings like aperture & shutter priorities? Why do they have exposure compensation and what is it used for? Why do a fine-tuned photo taken in manual mode turn out so much better than in automatic? What is a F-stop and what is spot metering? What about white balance settings - why do we need this? What are the differences between shooting in RAW or in JPEG?

So many people buy a camera and then simply fires away in automatic mode and they never even bother to use the camera to it's full capabilities. Those manual settings are there for a reason and the object of those are to enhance your photography and experiences. If you do not learn your camera's capabilities, you might as well have bought a plain point-and-shoot camera.

And we do understand the people's frustrations here! It is of very little help to try and study the manual to see which settings are available, but if you do not UNDERSTAND what they are there for or do, you would never really be able to use them.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CAMERA'S SETTINGS AND FUNCTIONALITY IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE!

So, we have decided to put together an excursion for both the beginners and advanced photographers to teach you to understand your camera and how to take better photographs. And we are doing this in the most fantastic way you would ever experience! And at a price most people only dream about. And at a location which would take you away from your daily routine where you can concentrate on photography only!

There are many colleges and lecturers who do the same, but prices are ridiculous and they try to teach you the basics over 5 days in 3 hour lectures per day, spending a total of 15 hours in 5 days. And you would pay anything from R2500 - R5000 for these "classes". And there are no excursions or real practical practice, nor commentary on achievements.

Now, we would be whisking you off to Barra in Mozambique for 6 days, staying in our upmarket Lodge (Barra Estates), including two meals a day, all travelling costs in Mozambique included for a meagre R5000 per person. And here we would spend 6 days doing what we love, and that is photography.

We limit these excursions to 4 people at a time to build a more personal relationship and this way we can also pay more personal attention to every person's needs.
