NTSC is the standard used in the United States of America, and because of
the vast buying power of the USA, as well as very stiff competition, we are able to source
NTSC digital camcorders from the USA at much better prices than their PAL counterparts.
Here in South Africa, all the latest VCR's and TV sets are multi systems, supporting
either PAL, NTSC or MESECAM. Should you have one of these systems, you can now own and use
a NTSC digital camcorder at a very competitive price.
Bear in mind that the purpose of a digital camcorder is to download your footage to a PC,
and there to manipulate and edit it. Here, NTSC and PAL do not come into play at all,
since the formats used are either MPEG or AVI. When one downloads to a PC, the camcorder
automatically converts the footage to either of the above formats. If one has a good Video
Capture Card (like Creative Labs'), the footage is stored back onto the VCR in either PAL
or NTSC. The ultimate, of course, is to cut your completed footage onto DVD, where again,
PAL and NTSC do not come into play.
All these camcorders are backed by the manufacturers and come with a 1 year warranty, just
like any PAL camcorder.
