Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP5 features shiny front panel and boasts a sophisticated, futuristic design suiting the casual urban usage. The slide cover both protects the lens from scratches or dusts and serves as the camera's power switch, making it fast and easy to slip the camera out of a pocket or a bag and turn on the power.

The DMC-FP5 features a 4x optical zoom LUMIX DC VARIO lens (35mm camera equivalent: 35-140mm). The folded optics of the shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit. Comprising 11 elements and a prism unit in 10 groups, including an ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lens and 4 aspherical lenses with 7 aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit renders high resolution image corner to corner even adopting the folded optics.

The DMC-FP5 gives you smooth, free, touch-control shooting. Your subject is instantly brought into auto focus by simply touching the image on the large LCD. You can also operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch and the Sonic Speed AF system provides fast, accurate AF performance for an entirely new style of shooting. A newly designed GUI also enables more comfortable operation. Simply touching the easy-to-understand icons lets you quickly and easily switch shooting modes and select functions.

The DMC-FP5 can record motion images in high-definition. The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-image recording even in low-light settings. The DMC-FP5 can also record standard motion images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps).
